2018 Graduation Speech by Quinten Ford ’18 (St. Louis Priory ’24)
Good evening, my name is Quinten Ford.
The mountain you see, I have created by hand. It represents my life at City Academy. A mountain is broken into three parts: the peak, the slope and the base. The base is my foundation and the beginning of my journey, JK through second grade.
Without this foundation, I would not be able to stand before you this evening. The start of my foundation began with an introduction to my first encounter with characters in books, manipulatives in math and even wrote my first story three sentences long, with a picture.
The slope is my next phase. The climb was challenging, but with consistency and stronger work habitats, I managed to rise beyond.
The peak represents the end of my journey at City Academy. I’ve learned so much. I learned that greatness comes with struggle, integrity is the base of good character and learned to set realistic goals in order to conquer success. I’m appreciative of all that I have learned and I will forever remember that City Academy isn’t the only mountain I will have to climb.
