The visual and performing arts play a significant and instructive role in the lives of City Academy students. Through various media, children learn to recognize, appreciate and apply the techniques and processes of creating art.
Such programs as ABC (Arts in the Basic Curriculum) sponsored by the St. Louis Art Museum expose students to the arts outside the classroom. Through the City Academy Original Works Art Sale, students produce and sell a piece of work to raise money for the school or a just cause.
The performing arts, including vocal and instrumental music, are an integral part of our curriculum. Student productions throughout the year provide a forum for students to use the skills they learn in class. Student performances include annual winter and spring recitals and monthly presentations. All students have access to a variety of musical instruments thanks to generous gifts from the community. Fourth and Fifth Graders are introduced to the Suzuki Method of music through our violin program.
