Financial Aid

All qualified students have an opportunity to attend City Academy, and all families are expected to pay tuition. However, income is not a determining factor for admission and families are encouraged to apply for financial aid.

Each family bears the primary responsibility for financing their child's education to the extent they are able. For those families who cannot afford to pay full tuition, we offer financial aid based on demonstrated need. We are dedicated to keeping costs within reach for those families who desire to afford a quality education for their children.

What is the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) used for?

The PFS is used to assist in determining a family’s financial aid package.

What information do I need to have available?

Financial aid is based on demonstrated financial need. To be able to determine how much financial assistance a family needs and how much a family can contribute, City Academy must know:
  • Income tax and W-2 forms (These forms MUST be included for consideration.)
  • Family size
  • Income from all sources
  • Savings, investments and other assets (including home equity)
  • Children's assets
  • Indebtedness
  • Medical, dental and unusual expenses

Each family must submit a copy of their most recent federal tax return to verify that the information used on the applications is true and accurate. In certain cases, additional documentation may be requested.

Where do I start?

  • Complete the PFS and submit it along with your most recent income tax 1040 form and W-2 information to City Academy.   Download a copy here:  Financial_Aid_Form.pdf
  • City Academy's Financial Aid Committee will determine your family's Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). The EFC is then subtracted from the stated tuition to obtain your family's aid eligibility.
What is a financial aid package?

A financial aid package consists of one or more ways that the school meets all or a portion of a family's demonstrated financial need. Consider this example:

$13,000 Tuition (as an example)
 -$3,000 Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)
$10,000 Financial Need/Aid Eligibility

The financial aid package would be put together to meet the demonstrated need; in this case, the family is eligible for a $10,000 grant from City Academy.

Where can I get more information?

Contact City Academy's Financial Aid Office.  City Academy provides the bulk of aid dollars available to families, and the Financial Aid Office will provide you with specific information regarding the options, procedures and deadlines.
