Curriculum Enrichment & Remediation

Because students learn at different rates and have different life experiences, City Academy offers programming in several forums. City Academy’s school day is extended from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., the fourth through sixth grade students participate in Think Tank, an opportunity for enrichment and remediation where students are mixed into multi-age/grade groups. They participate in activities designed to target a specific skill deficit or strength. The groups change intermittently based on the needs of the students.

Students who need tutoring in any given subject attend sessions conducted by trained volunteers, both during and after regular school hours. Summer school sessions include remedial classes as needed.

Students who need help with organization and task completion skills can attend the after-school Homework Club, where they can complete homework in a structured and nurturing environment while they cultivate strong study habits.
